11 Creative and Fun Toilet Paper Roll Crafts for Kids

Toilet paper rolls are something a lot of people collect for their use in creative arts and crafts. These vary in length from four to six inches and can offer as a raw material for an unlimited number of craft items. If you have a pile of these and you need to make toilet paper tube crafts for your child’s school project or just for fun around the holidays, then here are some amazing ideas for you.

Simple Toilet Paper Roll Crafts for Toddlers and Kids

1.TP Roll Binoculars

Children love binoculars! There is something appealing about this optical instrument for all kids as it can be used in all pretend play games. Whether your child is a pirate or an explorer, a pair of binoculars is a must!

What You Will Need

  • 2 TP rolls or one big roll cut into two halves from a kitchen roll.
  • Lots of paint or color paper.
  • White craft glue
  • A strand of ribbon
  • Decorative stickers
  • Clothes pegs

Instructions

  • Start with painting the TP rolls with colors your kids fancy. Allow the paint to dry for an hour.
  • Glue the end decorative strips to both the front and back. One turn of a colored tape around the circumference of the tubes will also give a neat finished look.
  • Bring the two rolls together and apply glue where they meet. Use the cloth pegs to keep them together as they dry.
  • Finally, staple the ends of the ribbon to opposite sides of the tube on the same side to complete the binoculars.

Instructions

  • Cut the toilet paper rolls into segments about 1 inch thick to make the armbands. You should get a few from each roll.
  • On a sheet of white cardboard, draw a circle about 1.5 inches in diameter and cut it out with scissors to make the watch dial.
  • Write the numbers on the dial and add the hour and minute hand to complete it.
  • Use cello tape to stick this dial to the wrist band. A little bit of glue can also be used to secure it in place.
  • Decorate the wrist band with different designs or color them to make them look cool.

  • Start by painting the TP rolls white. You could give it multiple coats for good absorption and allow them to dry.
  • Draw bunny ears on the white cardstock, and then smaller ear inserts out of the colored cardstocks. Stick the two together with white glue.
  • Glue the googly eyes to the TP rolls an inch and a half from the top.
  • Take three pipe cleaners and twist them around each other in the middle and glue the joint. Allow it to dry for a few hours.
  • Glue the pipe cleaners below the eyes to form the whiskers.
  • Glue a pom pom to the joint and allow it all to dry.
  • Glue the ears to the inside of the TP tube above the eyes.
  • Finally, draw a tiny mouth/smile below the whiskers to complete the bunny.

4. TP Roll Fish

What You Will Need

  • A few TP rolls
  • Some glossy paint, preferably acrylic
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue
  • Permanent marker

Instructions

  • To make the fish flatten the cardboard tube such that some curve still remains.
  • Cut a rounded end on one side to make the fish head. The same kind of curve at the back cut as slits without meeting at the center is needed to make the tail.
  • Fold the tail cut at the back inward and push it inside the tube, and this should create a nice tail at the back.
  • When done, the flattened cardboard tube resembles a fish.
  • Use one googly on each side of the face and glue them into place.
  • Use the marker to dray fin and scales on the fish.
  • Paint with different colors to make different types of fish.

5. TP Valentine’s Day Dog

Instructions

  • To make the dog start with painting the tubes white and set them aside for drying.
  • To make the hearts, use the craft paper punch to cut out identical hearts from the black card stock. You could punch out maybe a dozen hearts for every dog.
  • Draw long oval ears on the card stock and cut them out using a pair of scissors.
  • If you can’t find a heart-shaped punch, you could use a stencil to draw the hearts and cut them out with scissors.
  • Once the paint is dry, draw a pair of eyes and a heart-shaped nose below it.
  • Using glue, randomly stick hearts all over the dog.
  • Stick the ears to the side, and the dog is complete!

6. TP Roll Grinch

This is a perfect craft idea for when the Christmas holidays are around.

What You Will Need

  • TP rolls
  • Red card stock
  • Green paint
  • Scissors
  • Grinch eyes
  • Black marker

Instructions

  • Start painting the tubes in the classic Grinch green and set them aside to dry.
  • In the meantime, use the red cardstock to make a pointy cone that fits perfectly on top of the TP roll.
  •  To make the hat look more like a Santa hat, crush the top of the cone about a third of the way from the top and bend it to the side.
  • Glue a little bit of cotton fluff to its pointy end.
  • Once the paint is dry, draw the facial features of the Grinch and stick the eyes to it.
  • Apply a little glue to the bottom of the hat on the inside and place it over the tube.
  • Apply more glue to the joint between and stick cotton fluff to complete the hat.

  • TP roll
  • White paper

Instructions

  • Paint the TP roll green and allow it to dry.
  • Use the 3” circle punch to cut out a disc from the green cardstock.
  • Glue the green disc to the bottom of the TP roll once the paint dries.
  • Cut a strip of Black paper and go around the base of the hat once.

  • To form the buckle, cut a yellow rectangle from the yellow card stock.

  • Glue the tentacles to the inside of the tube on the bottom side.

Instructions

  • Stand the tube up and press into one side of the top to fold it along the crease where you flattened it.
  • Do the same to the other side such that it completely covers up the hollow of the tube.
  • Do the same to the bottom and use craft glue to keep them stuck in the same place.
  • Out of the black construction paper, cut out batwings and glue them to the back of the tube.
