Stuffed Aloo Tikki Hearts

Given the versatility of potatoes, you can make so many delightful dishes out of it. However, today we are going to share an evergreen and much loved Indian snack made out of potatoes – tikkis, but with an interesting twist. These heart shaped ‘Aloo Tikkis’ are stuffed with fried moong dal that adds another layer of texture and taste to the tikkis and makes them simply irresistible.

Ingredients
- 4 medium potatoes, boiled, peeled and mashed
- 2-3 tbsp minced coriander leaves
- ½ tsp red chili powder
- 2 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tsp chaat masala
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp corn flour
- Salt to taste
- 2-3 tbsp fried moong dal
- 2-3 tbsp oil to fry the tikkis
Method
Step 1
In a large bowl, add the mashed potatoes along with rest of the ingredients. Mix well.
Step 2
Divide the dough into about 8 equal portions and shape them into small discs. Place about half a teaspoon of the moong dal at the centre of the disc and cover.
Step 3
Using a heart shape cookie cutter, cut out heart shaped potato patties. Use the scrap to form more patties.
Step 4
Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the tikkis till they are golden brown on both sides.
Step 5
Serve them hot with ketchup or green chutney. Enjoy!

Tip: You can also add mashed green peas in the tikkis. Instead of moong dal, you can also try paneer filling.
