Tips to Celebrate Your Baby’s First Birthday – How to Make It Memorable

The thought of celebrating your baby’s first birthday itself brings excitement. It’s just a fun journey from planning till the birthday date. I was also excited n eagerly waiting for the special day.

Plan the day : I was planning one week before the birthday. My planning included how I could make the day special. As the kid is too small to understand what is happening, I needed to plan accordingly. I prepared an invitation card on an app as it is easily available. It was easy and looked good too.

  • Food
  • Ambience
  • Gathering

Decoration should be simple and appealing. I tried to vacate the area and decorate it with balloons, hangings, the birthday banner and a banner having photographs of my baby from month 1 to 12. In today’s gadget era, it’s difficult to keep photographs. So, I intentionally chose to have banner of photographs.

Food that I arranged was simple, homemade and that kids can enjoy. I decided to have potato smileys, banana chips, bread pizzas, a variety of juices and chaat. My little one enjoyed the banana chips and smileys.

Ambience makes the occasion wonderful. There was music, fun games and I prepared a corner in my area where everyone can go for clicking photographs with props. My little one was so happy to see variety of colours around.

It’s important to select a number of people attending the party. I chose 10 to 15 people including family members so that the kid can get his space and enjoy himself. A lot of people means you are going to be with them and will end up ignoring the baby. So, involve yourself with the baby so that he may feel like an important member on his day.

Execution of the day: I offered a small puja in the morning to get the positivity flowing. Remembering God on such a day means a lot to me and my family. I was prepared for the day. Give sufficient rest and food to baby before the party gets started, so that he feels refreshed.

There are many things you can plan out, but do not spend a lot of money on this as kids will not understand or enjoy that much. Do small things so that he can easily cheer up. To make this day remarkable, I planted one tree in my garden named after my son so both can see each other growing.
