I conceived at a late age as I had gynecological problems because of which I had difficulty conceiving and retaining my pregnancy. I had to take lot of medicines during the course of my pregnancy.
As a result of which it effected my daughter’s complexion (as told to us by our doctor). Both me and my husband are fair but our daughter is wheatish. Being a typical North Indian I was disheartened and tried all home remedies to make her fair. Be it applying turmeric or be it bread dipped in milk, Atta loi, gram flour tried it all. Once when the ” Bai ” was applying uptan on her l noticed the discomfort on her face and realized what a fool I had been. Just for society’s set standards of beauty I was putting my daughter through that ordeal.
Her smile, her innocence, her love is what makes her beautiful not her complexion.
Today she has grown up to be such a cheerful and smart girl who excels in all she does. She skates, paints, loves to dance. She is very confident and makes friends easily. Also she is her teacher’s favorite.
She is loved by all and gets lot of appreciation from my friends and colleagues.
It is these qualities which are important in a child than a fair complexion.
She is our princess and the most beautiful soul.
I would advise all parents not to have anxiety regarding your child’s outward appearance but to inculcate good “Sankara” in them so that they grow up to be beautiful souls whom the world loves. Only when we as parents will be confident of our child will we be able to raise them as confident individuals. Our belief in them will give them all the confidence to excel in life and conquer the World.
