Hello, readers! Your writer Monika is back with one more experience. This time it is all about fun and creativity. I hope you enjoy this and try these with your toddler.

In this pandemic where everything has shifted to online, we all want to keep our toddlers busy with something creative, which includes their motor skills and cognitive development. As you all know, my daughter Kashvi is a power pack of energy. Sadly, due to lockdown, she could not utilize it perfectly. So I decided to divert her energy into something she enjoys, and I am comfortable doing too. I ordered a few coloring books online and started exploring different fun methods of coloring. Let’s find out some of the fun ways:

Sponge Coloring

Take a plate and pour small quantities of colors. Dip the sponge piece on the color plate and it on the coloring page. Now, introduce this method to your toddler. Even you can take a blank white page. Try it out, and your child will love it!

Finger Painting

Kashvi loves this one. Draw some flowers and color your child’s thumb. Ask her to stamp her thumb on the petals. You can even make fish or butterflies. It is fun!

Palm Painting

Just like thumb painting, you can do palm painting. If you want, you can use palm painting on a t-shirt. Use fabric paint and color your palm and your kid’s palm. Stamp it on a t-shirt or a bag. You can make something new for yourself, your husband, or your child. Your child will love it!

Fruits and Vegetable Stamp

It is another fun and none expensive way of coloring. You can use okra, broccoli, apple, orange, lemon, and many more for the fun activity. The kitchen is all yours, and so are the ideas. Explore your side of creativity with your child.

Buds painting

Earbuds are easily accessible at home and are safe for your child too. You can use earbuds for dot painting. You can create a tree, flower, or fish with colored earbuds. Make it more colorful so that your child will find it attractive.

Thread painting

You can try this painting method with your toddler. Ensure you use soft thread so that it doesn’t harm your child’s finger. Take your color plate and dip the thread in color. Now ask your child to place the thread randomly between the coloring book. Hold another side of the thread in your hand. Now, you both pull it out together. Open the book and see the different shapes you and your child created. You can use multiple colors to make it more striking.

In place of a thread, you can also use a painting brush or stamps of different shapes and sizes.

Precautions

  1. Everything should be done under adult supervision.
  2. Don’t use anything which has sharp edges that can harm your child.
  3. Place a rough cloth or newspaper below to avoid any mess.
  4. Keep a rough cloth handy to wipe your child’s hands or the floor.
  5. You and your child can wear aprons. This will save your clothes from getting tainted.
  6. Keep your child equally involved in the activity.

Benefits

  1. These types of activities improve the child’s motor skills and other development.
  2. You will spend more quality time with your child.
  3. You can use these tricks to keep your child busy rather than getting cranky.
  4. You will live your childhood again.
  5. These are less expensive and easily accessible.

I hope you will like this blog, and you will surely try some of the coloring hacks at home with your child.
