Why Should You Get a Highchair? Do You Really Need It?

You can buy a highchair if you are going to start baby-led weaning for your child. I bought a highchair, but started with the spoon-feeding method. I planned to slowly introduce baby-led weaning.

I used to put my baby in the highchair whenever I was busy doing chores, like cleaning the house or cooking. In the highchair tray, you can put some safe activity or a favourite toy to engage your child. You can be stress-free while doing the house chores, as your baby is in a safe place! However, this does not mean you can leave your baby alone. Always monitor your child’s activity, even if they buckled up in the highchair.

I would recommend that parents buy a highchair only they are religiously going to start baby-led weaning, as I personally used my highchair most of the time while doing household chores.

If you are going to buy a highchair, make sure it has the following features:

The highchair should provide seat belts, for the safety of the child. The baby should be buckled in well in the high chair to ensure safety.

The highchair should be strong, so that it is safe and can be used for a long time.

Rolling Wheels

This feature can be great as you don’t need to lift your highchair, then – you can simply drag the highchair to where you want to keep it! This feature will provide good help while cleaning up messy areas after mealtimes.

The highchair should have proper height adjustments. For example, the tray and the foot rest should be adjustable for easier usage. Your baby should sit comfortably in his highchair!

The high chair should be portable, so that it can be transported and stored easily. However, this feature is optional for those who don’t need transportation and storage.
