Your Baby this Week
Your child is probably beginning to cover more and more territory, regardless of whether he is scooting and crawling or cruising in the upright position, or maybe even trying a few tentative first steps. Switching to a cup is better for your child’s dental health, such as long-term slurping from a bottle that contains sugar, even the stuff with “natural” sugars, such as formula, milk, cheese, and a little bit of fruit juice can increase the risk of tooth decay. It is best to replace the cup for a bottle at times when your baby is alert, rather than using it to help her fall asleep. If your child is healthy and developing on schedule, he might be able to make the switch with just one or two tries.
