Fusilli Pasta in Red Sauce with Cheese

Pasta is one of those dishes that can please even the fussiest of the kids. If you kid loves pasta, then here is a quick pasta recipe with red sauce and cheese. Add some veggies to it for a healthy, filling and satisfying lunch. And yeah, there can be interesting ways to present the dish to your kid. Here is one!

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups cooked fusilli pasta
  • ½ cup fresh tomato puree
  • ¼ cup ready to use tomato puree
  • ¼ cup tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • ¼ cup finely chopped capsicum
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dry red chilli flakes
  • 1 cheese slice
  • Chocolate chips and capsicum pieces for garnishing

Method

Heat a pan and add oil, add the onions and garlic and sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes.

Add capsicum and sauté it on a medium flame for another 2 to 3 minutes.

Now add the fresh tomato puree and salt and cook it for 5-7 minutes. Stir in between.

Step 4

When it looks a bit cooked, add the ready to use tomato purée, tomato ketchup, oregano, chilli flakes and sugar. Stir well and cook on a medium flame for 3-4 minute. The red sauce should be nice and thick by now.

Add the cooked pasta, toss gently and cook on a medium flame for 2 more minutes. The pasta should be well coated with the sauce.

To serve place a round cheese slice on a plate. Surround it with the prepared pasta, making it look like a lion. Use chocolate chips for the eyes; for nose and whiskers use capsicum pieces. Use the image as reference.

Step 7

Serve warm. Enjoy!
