Cramping After IUI – Is It Common?

The intrauterine insemination or IUI offers couples who are trying to conceive a good fertility solution. It involves inserting a thin catheter via the cervix which places specially washed sperm cells straight into the uterus of a woman. The procedure is simple and quick and may last for a few minutes only. However, the timing is very important for the success of the treatment. People claim that an IUI done within under six hours of a woman’s ovulation has a better chance of succeeding. But a lot depends on sperm quality as well. Nevertheless, the technique may have many benefits. It injects a considerable amount of concentrated sperm right into the uterus thus making it easier for them to have direct access to the egg which may increase the possibility of conception. Cramping after IUI is also quite common—some women may suffer trifling stomach cramps after undergoing IUI treatment. It usually happens when the doctor has trouble getting to the cervix during the process.
