Divya AnandMom of 4 children3 days agoA. When I was pregnant, I had the same question, and honestly, I was so confused there are so many options out there. My gynac told me that the best protein sources during pregnancy are natural whole foods, first things like lentils, cottage cheese, eggs, nuts, milk, and yoghurt. She said the body absorbs protein from food much better than any supplement, so building your meals around it is always the first step for healthy fetal development and maternal nutrition.
But I was dealing with bad nausea in my second trimester and barely eating properly, so my doctor suggested adding a safe pregnancy-specific protein powder as a top-up. I started using Mamafy Protein powder by Betterherbs, and it really helped me meet my daily protein requirement on days when i just couldn't eat much. It mixed easily and didn't have any strong smell, which was a lifesaver during nausea.
Whatever you choose, please always check with your doctor first because every pregnancy is different.
