Q.

#AskTheExpert during pregnancy, pigmentation started on my cheeks and it's been 7 months post cesarean now and the problem still persist.. could you please suggest what can we do to reduce pigmentation.. thank you

A. take multivitamin supplements regularly. eat protein rich diet. once consult some dermatologist for routine check up and start treatment as advised by your doctor. avoid spicy and oily food

A. hi dear This is called 'chloasma'. It is also sometimes known as 'melasma' or the 'mask of pregnancy'. Chloasma is thought to be due to stimulation of pigment-producing cells by female sex hormones so that they produce more melanin pigments (dark coloured pigments) when the skin is exposed to sun.
