Your Baby this Week

By now, your baby’s physical developments are increasing pace. When you are lying on your back, he’ll lift his head and shoulders as you reach to pull him up. If you put him on his tummy, he’ll extend his arms and legs and arch his back. This is a great exercise to strengthen his neck muscles, and help him develop head control, which is necessary in order to sit up. A well-established nighttime routine, which has a bath and a bedtime story, may help settle your baby to sleep. It’s a good idea to consistently “sequence” your baby toward slumber. For example, feed him, give her a bath, put him in pajamas, read him a book, sing a lullaby or play some music, and then put him down.
