Your Baby this Week

Your baby will take short naps throughout the day, waking up to feed and spend a bit of time to quiet the alarm before drifting off to sleep again. A baby’s eyes focus best on objects 8 to 15 inches away. Your baby’s umbilical cord stump will dry and fall off in two to three weeks. Until then, keep it clean, dry and free from irritation. If you notice pus or a strong odour, call the doctor. Your baby knows who you are mostly by hearing your voice and due to your unique smell. Your newborn baby can see clearly only about 6 to 10 inches away, the perfect distance in order to study your face when he is held. Over the next few months, your baby’s vision will improve and in 8 months he will be able to see you from across the room.
