Cricketer Rohit Sharma Reveals His New-born Daughter’s Name in an Aww-dorable Twitter Post

Ace Indian batsman Rohit Sharma is the latest member in the ‘New Parents Club’! Ritika Sajdeh, the cricketer’s wife, gave birth to their baby girl on the 30th of December, 2018 – quite the perfect New Year gift for the couple! Yesterday, the excited new dad took to social media to reveal the name of his daughter.

Lovely name, isn’t it? Samaira has several meanings, including ‘enchanting’ and ‘protected by God’, and we’re sure the little one has great things destined for her – as her name means ‘destiny’ too!

Baby Samaira had earlier appeared on her dad’s feed on January 1^st, when Rohit Sharma wished his fans and followers on New Year’s.

In an interview with former Australia captain Michael Clarke, Rohit had expressed his excitement on soon becoming a father. He mentioned how it was going to be a complete game-changer for him, and how his teammates teased him when he revealed the news to them. With his tendency to forget things while travelling and his ‘irresponsibility’, as he put it, his teammates did wonder how he was going to fare as a dad (jokingly, of course!). But the cricketer is sure that things are going to change for the better!

December sure seems to be a celebratory month for the happy couple. December 13^th marked their 3^rd wedding anniversary, while Ritika celebrates her birthday on the 21^st of December. Professionally too, the last month of the year ended on a great note for Rohit, who scored 63 batting in India’s first innings at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, helping the country win against Australia. The birth of his daughter on the 30^th would have been the icing on the cake for the cricketer, who flew back to Mumbai and will be missing the 4^th test match in Sydney to spend time with his family.
