Here Comes Motherhood and Oh, The Surprises It Brings!
‘Are you breastfeeding your baby or bottle-feeding him?’
‘Is your baby gaining weight?
Moms (especially new moms) are asked such questions all the time. They are asked every little detail about their babies, which makes them anxious and nervous. They even start doubting their parenting abilities.
When I gave birth to my daughter Ariyah (who is now 4 months old), I was told a thousand of dos and dont’s. Being a first-time mom, I heard all the suggestions very carefully. But soon I realised that all the suggestions given to me were different from one another, and I thought it was okay. All the parents are different and so are their babies and we are free to raise our children the way we want. If you are a new mother, it may take you some time to adjust to this new role of a mother, but I am sure you must be doing well.
For first-time moms, it’s scarier as they are new to everything. Some days will be easy while on other days, you would want to cry and give up. And it’s all okay and you will do great. Whenever you feel like giving up, take deep breaths and let that anxiety go. Take some time out for yourself, go out, go to a spa, or practise yoga. Let your friends and family babysit for a day. I am sure they’ll be happy to help. Take up a new hobby and involve your baby too. Raising a baby can be fun if you want it to be. Taking care of a baby can be a bit of an overwhelming experience. You can involve your baby in your day to day work as it will help develop his motor skills.
To all the mothers out there, don’t worry. Your maternal instincts will be enough to guide you. You are strong and you will take care of the baby in the best way possible. Don’t put yourself down. You will figure out everything and it will be alright. A mother knows the best for her baby.
