Apple & Prune Puree

Prunes can be a good source of antioxidants for babies. If your baby is prone to constipation, a couple cubes of prunes a day should help keep their motions regular! Babies seldom reject the flavour as these are pretty yum!

Ingredients

  • 8 organic fuji apples
  • 20 organic prunes
  • 8-10 oz water (for a thicker puree, use less water)

Method

Step 1

Wash the apples. Cut in half and remove seeds and stems.

Step 2

Cut each half into 4-6 pieces.

Step 3

Remove pits from prunes or get pitted prunes if you want to save time.

Step 4

Put apples, prunes, and water into a large saucepan.

Step 5

Cover and cook on high flame.

Step 6

Cook for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside to cool a little.

Step 7

Pour everything into a blender, puree until smooth.

Step 8

Feed you baby instantly.

Step 9

If you wish to store for later use, pour into ice cube trays and allow it to cool. Cover/wrap, and freeze.

Step 10

Thaw in the fridge the night before use. You can also thaw by putting the ice cubes in a bowl over another bowl of hot water on the counter to defrost.
