- Salt dough or air-dry clay
- Paints
- A candle (electric or wax)
Instructions
- Take a ball of air-dry clay or salt dough. You can check out how to make salt dough at home with dough, salt, and water.
- Knead and shape this ball into a flat, thick circle. Make sure it is big enough to hold a child’s handprint.
- When it is ready, have the child press his/her handprint onto the dough or clay and make an impression.
- Next, take the candle, and press it into the centre of the palm print. Move it around a little to make the impression bigger so that the candle will fit well after the dough or clay has shrunk after drying.
- Now, let the entire set-up dry completely.
- After it is dry, let the child paint the handprint in any colour. He/she can use the mother’s favourite colours to make it more special. Let the paint dry.
- You can decorate the candle holder by adding glitter, stickers, or patterns.

- Cardboard egg cartons or an alternative
- Paint

- Canvas or cardstock
Instructions
- Cut the cups from the egg carton.
- Now, cut the sides of each piece to shape your egg carton flowers.
- Using the flat top of the egg carton, cut leaves, stems and a short straight strip.
- Shape the sides and make them round. Cut so that you have three cups, one with smaller petals and two larger ones.
- Roll the short straight strip into a spiral.
- Take your favourite colour and paint all the petals. Paint the stem and leaves green with green colour.
- Paste the twirled circle into the centre of the smaller, shorter flower piece.
- Now glue two egg carton cups, one on top of the other.
- Finally, glue the small part in the centre of the two cups previously glued together.
- Glue the flowers on the canvas or construction paper.
14. DIY Fingerprint Flower Bouquet
Create a vibrant bouquet using kids’ fingerprints as flower petals. Add green stems and a heartfelt message to make it extra special.

- Twine
- Green marker

Instructions
- Make a square cut-out on a cardstock sheet.
- Folf it in such a shape that it resembles a diamond.
- On the place where the sheet is open, make thumbprints in the form of flower petals using acrylic colours.
- Thumb-paint the centre of the flowers with yellow paint.
- Draw stems and leaves down from the flowers using a green marker.
- Cut a small strand of twine. Apply glue to the back of the paper and keep it in place. Now turn it to the front side and tie the twine in a bow style.
