Now you see me, now you don’t! I am so well hidden that Mom won’t be able to find me if she tries all day. Hey, hey! How did she find me so fast? Well, children are effortless hide-and-seek champions – or at least, they think they are. Check out some of the innovative hiding places only our little ones can think of – they are so amazing, you’ll be laughing all day!
Before you scroll down to the pictures below, be warned. You may face a severe fit of giggles when you behold the hiding places these kids think of. They are silent as the hills, slinking away in broad daylight to nooks and crannies. You’ll even be surprised to find that there are an infinite number of hiding places in your house – ones you had never imagined.
For children, there are two golden rules of hide-and-seek:
1. If I can’t see them, of course they can’t see me.
2. My head is the most important, and even the only, body part I really need to hide.
In early childhood, and up to the age of 6-7 years, children have a limited understanding of spatial perception. It is difficult for them to gauge your line and scope of vision – hence, the creative and err, sparse, hiding places. (If you are in doubt, just ask your parents!) It is through games such as these, and variations like peek-a-boo, that you can boost your kid’s cognitive development. Not only that, it also keeps them physically active. Once hooked, you’ll be faced with eager demands of “I’ll hide, you find me!” everyday.
It’s time to now meet the champions who teach us invaluable lessons in playing the game like a pro. Hats off, masters!
