Q.

Im mother of 74 days baby. She is not passing stool since she turned two months. Making her to drink castor oil once in 4 days as it helps in constipation. Im drinking 4-5 ltrs of water and having green vegetables in my diet. Doctor said it is ok if she doesn’t go but whenever she cries we feel like she is suffering from that problem. Is it ok to use castor oil or please suggest any remedy.

A. Hello ma'am please do not give castor oil to your baby, she should only breastfeed till 6 month of age, she is not constipated, Breastfed babies, especially if they have not started solid foods, can easily go two weeks without a poopy diaper once they are 2-3 months old. Breastmilk is exactly what your baby needs, and so there is little waste product left for the baby to poop out. Exclusively breastfed babies are almost never constipated.
