POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy3 years agoA. Generally newborns lose 7 to 10% of their birthweight in the immediate days after birth but regain the same within two weeks or so. These are just averages, the rate of weight gain may differ from baby to baby.
By 4 to 6 months baby should double the birth weight and triple by age 1. So personally i would say wait and watch how baby is doing on breastmilk alone. There should be a steady weight gain. Also keep a pee count. 6 to 10 wet nappies a day means baby is getting enough milk.
