Q.

Hello My sisters new born baby s bilirubin was 12.8 which was checked post 48 hours of delivery, she was kept under phototherapy for 16hrs straight and her blood was checked for bilirubin which came 12.1.As per Doctors advice,phototherapy was continued for another 19 hrs .Post therapy birubin was 11. The pediatrician told that in some babies,the process of bilirubin elimination is slowly ,which is the same for her also.she is on breastfeed also. Kindly explain the reason.

A. actually there's no need to repeat test. some times it may remain in blood for three weeks. so better of child is fine.. means no vomit or fever. take a leave and give sunbath at home only

A. Hello mam your Dr already already explain the reason that yes there could be a possibility but I would like to tell you that there is direct and indirect range so what is your doctor working on right now that is something you do need to understand first and yes sometimes kids are kept in phototherapy for 48 to 72 hours also to reduce down the range of jaundice
