POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy4 months agoA. It's understandable to feel worried, but many babies with kidney dilation (also called hydronephrosis) improve as they grow. A dilation of 16 mm is moderate to significant, and regular follow-up with a pediatric urologist or nephrologist is very important. They will monitor kidney growth, function, and urine flow through ultrasound and sometimes other tests. In many cases, the condition improves on its own as the baby matures. If the dilation is not improving, or if there are signs of urine blockage or repeated infections, the doctor may suggest treatment, which can include medication or, in some cases, surgery. Keep up with all follow-ups and ensure your baby stays well-hydrated and monitored.
