Q.
Doing oil massage to my baby during cold and stuffy nose. Is right or wrong? The oil is himalaya olive oil

ExpertDr Disha PatelAyurvedic Physician6 years agoA. You can massage during cough and cold..no worries. Give steam inhalation. Continue breast feeding. Mustard oil has medical & antibacterial properties. Its a safe & effective way to cure cough & congestion in children. Put one or two garlic cloves in mustard oil and heat the oil. Once the oil is lukewarm, rub it on baby’s chest & feet. Warmth & smell of mustard oil helps to get quick relief from nasal congestion and cough & cold. You can also heat the mustard oil with a teaspoon of rock salt into it. Once the oil is lukewarm, rub it on baby’s chest, back & feet.

ExpertDr.Rasika ThosarPaediatric Intensivist6 years agoA. you can do it . avoid cold climate, cold winds. give plenty of feeds , adequate rest to the baby. indirect steam , hot water bath will also help. consult your paediatrician if baby is feeding less, excessively drowsy or if cold increases. post illness babies might be cranky , irritable. nose block congestion also result in loss of appetite, difficult sucking. try different head up feeding position. feed by spoon otherwise. Maintain hygiene. if bottle feeding, maintain sterility as its a common source of infections.

SanthoshiMom of a 8 yr 2 m old girl6 years agoA. Massage everyday before bath. This will help. You can use oils like nalpamaradhi thailam or coconut oil or almond oil. Give a good massage for 5-10 mins then give a bath. Avoid for eye are also avoid masages duirng cold weather.
