Health is Wealth- This is How I Keep My Kids Healthy
I have two kids… a 7-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy… when they were below 2 years of age… they used to fall sick very frequently with fever and cold… and my daughter used to get frequent skin rashes….
Now my kids are very healthy.. irrespective of weather and even when they play in the mud, etc…
Every morning I give vegetable juice with honey… instead of milk…. and dry fruits… then I give sprouts with fruits for breakfast… I give veggie pieces as snacks… In lunch, any curry with brown rice… I feed them dinner before 6.30 pm…
I send my daughter to dance class (Kuchipudi)… to get some physical activity…. Because to keep kids healthy, both physical fitness and a good diet are needed.
There is a saying in Telugu that ” Brahandam lo em undo, pindandam lo ade undi” It means whatever is there on earth.. the same is there in our body… which means the Earth is made up of gases, solids, liquids, temperature, etc….. Our body also forms the same, in Sanskrit, we call it Pancha Bhoothas. On Earth ,75 % of water and 25% of land is there… accordingly, we must take 75% of water and 25 % food…. It allows food to digest freely… And the food we take must consist of 75 % of raw food and only 25% of cooked food… to stay healthy and have a long life…. So I give the required quantity of water (little warm) to my kids to maintain the balance between liquids and solid food.
I include these in their food
- Fruits
- Sprouts
- Dry fruits
- Honey
- Raw vegetables
- Vegetable juice (every day… I add tomatoes, carrots, beetroot, cucumber, bottle gourd, snake gourd, ridge gourd lemon with honey)
- Brown rice
- Millets
- Soya bean milk
- Sesame seeds with dates
- Fruit juices
- Coconut
- Soaked Groundnuts
I go walking with my kids in the evening after they complete their homework. I play with my kids, I dance with my kids… I spend time with them… So that when they grow up, the memories will be with them… they too want to spend time with us…. Because I feel there is no other precious gift than time….
