A. Cough and Cold have to be treated only after a proper examination by a doctor after the exact cause is diagnosed.it may be any infection or it may be allergic too.it is not so related to food items or climate but seasonal changes may aggravate the susceptibility to get infected.avoid refrigerated food items .maintain good immunity of the child with proper diet and supplements. it may be associated with fever too for which calpol can be given. As the first line of treatment for relief you can give steam inhalation which would be of great help .to relieve blocked nose nasoclear drops can also be used multiple times. Cough Syrup or nebulization should be given only after a proper evaluation according to the type of cough .self medication may not be so helpful so please consult your doctor once. if the cough is productive you can give brozeet-ls or ambrodil syrup for now only n continue only after doctor's advice.growth of the child can be ensured by fulfillment of proper nutritional requirement specially iron and vitamin D is required for better growth and cognition.one should ensure that the child should get a proper balanced diet which contains all types of micro and macronutrients essential for growth. any kind of infection specially any chronic infection should be ruled out and treated which may hamper the growth otherwise. after 2 years of age you can give some powder like Kids Pro/ prohance junior mixed with milk twice a day for one or two months but any health drink is not recommended before two yrs of age.u can add flavours also to milk. avoid giving too much of milk otherwise it may hamper the hunger of the baby and the baby may not be taking interest in having other variety of food .and opposite to that if the baby is not taking milk properly the dairy products will be a good substitute like curd, paneer n cheese etc.
