POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy1 Year agoA. For infants with a cold, here are some Indian home remedies that may help alleviate symptoms:
1. **Nasal Saline Drops:** Use saline drops to help clear your baby's nasal passages. Put a few drops in each nostril to loosen mucus before using a bulb syringe to suction it out gently.
2. **Turmeric Milk:** Turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Warm a glass of milk, add a pinch of turmeric, and feed it to your baby before bedtime.
3. **Ajwain Potli:** Roast ajwain (carom seeds) in a cloth and make a potli (bundle). Gently press the potli against your baby's chest and back to provide relief from congestion.
4. **Garlic and Mustard Oil Rub:** Mix crushed garlic cloves with mustard oil and warm it slightly. Massage this oil gently onto your baby's chest and back to help relieve congestion.
5. **Steam Inhalation:** Create a steamy environment in the bathroom by running a hot shower and sitting with your baby in the steam-filled room for a few minutes. This can help loosen mucus and ease congestion.
6. **Honey and Ginger:** Mix a small amount of honey with ginger juice and give it to your baby (if they are over one year old). This can help soothe a sore throat and cough.
7. **Warm Soups:** If your baby is old enough for solids, offer warm, comforting soups like moong dal soup or vegetable soup to keep them hydrated and nourished.
Always consult with your pediatrician before trying any home remedies, especially for infants. If your baby's symptoms worsen or if you have any concerns, seek medical advice promptly.
