Mom of a 5 yr 5 m old boy4 years ago
Q.

My son is 6 months old now. At the time of birth he was admitted in NICU for 2 days due to hypoglycemia and jaundice. After that he recovered from that. Then we visited eye hospital by the advice of my pediatrician. There the doctor said that he has an oil droplet in lens of both eyes. We had taken galactosemia test and report came normal. But in eye hospital doctor told that oil droplet has been increased when we visited there last week. He told that it may be galactosemia. but the report is normal. Then what was the reason for oil droplet??kindly please advice.

A. eye hospital doctor told to avoid breastfeeding because mothers milk contain galactose so it will increase that oil droplet but if it doesnt work then the surgery will be needed. but the pediatrician told it is not needed to avoid breastfeeding because the report came normal, but if i want then try to give soy milk instead of breastfeeding because soy milk has no galactose
