Q.

my son is 10 month old. he is down with high fever 103° since last morning. he is vomiting when given antibiotics. and on giving paracetamol fever is decreasing not vanishing ( even for sometime). what to do

A. Fever is commonly seen in babies and mostly it's viral infection which is very common in children. But if fever is high grade and persisting or assosiated with specific symptoms than other causes should also be ruled out . Antipyretic like paracetamol or ibuprofen or mefenamic acid are usually given to redjguce fever . Cold sponging with lukewarm water is also helpful . Doctor consultation should be done if symptoms like excessive irritability dullness loss of appetite less urine output is there .

A. I like to tell you here that the fever can last up to 648 to 72 hours and if it does not subside completely by the time of 72 hours then you should be consulting the doctor to get a check for why did infection or somethingWrite Your Answer Here
