Q.

My niece is 15 months old and isn’t learning to walk and if we make her try with support she does it on her toes. How do we make her walk on her feet?

A. It’s quite common for some babies to walk a bit later, and walking on toes in the early stages is also normal as they build strength and balance. At 15 months, if your niece stands with support and shows interest in walking, that’s a good sign. Encourage her to walk barefoot on flat, safe surfaces to improve foot positioning. Avoid walkers, as they may delay proper muscle development. Gently help her practice standing with full feet on the ground and offer toys at a short distance to motivate her to take steps. If toe-walking continues beyond 18 months or she shows no interest in walking, consult a pediatrician or physiotherapist for further evaluation.
