Q.

My daughter is 3yrs 6months old, she is suffering from cold and caugh from 3weeks, using syrups and giving nebulization still she is suffering. we are using SuperEX-LS caugh syrup which was prescribed previously daily 15ml is it ok to use this dosage. Please suggest how to cure.

A. Thanks Doctor, I have a doubt in dosage of syrup daily, here our pediatrian suggested 3times 5ml, what happens we increase the dosage.

A. Cough is a protective reflex of the body to expel out the mucus or any irritant factor from the respiratory tract which is most of the time assosiated with cold due to any viral or bacterial infection . A proper examination is required to find the cause . As a home remedy you can start with steam inhalation . Cough can be treated with cough suppressant or antitussives as per the cause. For cold antihistamines are uoseful and nasal saline drops are also benifecial .
