After a C-section, it is essential to allow your body adequate time to heal before resuming activities like sitting on the floor or doing daily tasks. Recovery varies from person to person, but here are some general guidelines: When You Can Sit on the Floor: Typically, you can start sitting on the floor 6–8 weeks after surgery, once your incision has healed and you feel comfortable. However, avoid straining your abdomen while sitting or getting up. Use support to ease the transition. When to Resume Normal Activities: 1. Light Household Work: You can start light chores like dusting or organizing after 6–8 weeks, depending on your energy levels and comfort. 2. Lifting and Strenuous Work: Avoid lifting heavy objects or doing strenuous tasks for 3–4 months to avoid putting pressure on your abdominal muscles. 3. Exercise: Wait for at least 12 weeks or until your doctor clears you for abdominal exercises, including yoga or core strengthening. Start with gentle stretches and gradually build strength. 4. Floor Sitting: Begin sitting on the floor once you are pain-free and confident in your movements, usually by 2–3 months postpartum. Use a cushion initially for comfort. Important Tips for Recovery: Listen to Your Body: Don’t rush; overexertion can slow your healing. Consult Your Doctor: Especially if you feel pain, pulling sensations, or swelling around your incision site. Stay Active: Gentle walking is encouraged to improve circulation and aid healing. If you feel ready for certain activities but are unsure, discuss them with your doctor. They can assess your healing progress and provide personalized advice.
