How to find breast feeding satisfy baby hunger

A. To determine if your baby is getting enough milk during breastfeeding, here are some signs that can help you assess whether your baby is satisfied and their hunger is met: Feeding Duration: If your baby feeds for an adequate amount of time (typically 15–30 minutes per breast), it may indicate that they are getting enough milk. However, some babies may feed for longer or shorter periods, so focus on the baby's behavior rather than the clock. Swallowing Sounds: During the feed, you should hear your baby swallowing milk. This means they are actively drinking. If the baby is just sucking but not swallowing, they may not be getting enough milk. Wet Diapers: A well-fed baby should have at least 5-6 wet diapers in a 24-hour period, which is a good indicator that they are staying hydrated and getting enough milk. Contentment after Feeding: If your baby seems content, relaxed, or even falls asleep after breastfeeding, it suggests that they are full. If your baby continues to show signs of hunger (such as rooting, sucking on their hands, or being fussy), they might need more milk. Weight Gain: Regular weight checks at pediatric visits can help determine if your baby is growing appropriately. Steady weight gain (around 150-200 grams per week for the first few months) is a good sign that your baby is getting enough milk. Breast Changes: After a good feed, your breast should feel softer or emptier, which indicates milk has been removed. If the breast feels hard and full, your baby might not have emptied it properly, and you may want to offer both breasts during each feeding. Baby's Behavior: If your baby is calm, active, and meeting developmental milestones, it's a good indication that they are satisfied and receiving enough nutrition from breastfeeding. If you're concerned about your milk supply or if your baby seems unsatisfied despite frequent feeds, consider consulting a lactation consultant or pediatrician to ensure everything is progressing well.
