Q.

hi dr, my baby is now 5th month and am on breastfeeding.I had taken covaxin on 25th sep 2021. am feeling cough and cold from last 4days. Thought taking precautions, will my baby get affected to cold and flu?? Can I take medicine for cough and cold?

A. Cold is a viral disease that usually occurs with symptoms like sneezing, running nose, cough ,sore throat, nasal congestion and fever.at times it can be allergic too. Treatment consists of antihistamines antipyretics analgesics and decongestants . steam inhalation would help in relieving congestion n soothing the irritation in nose and throat .you can give sinarest/ascoril flu cold in a proper dose for 3-5 days as per the symptoms but only under medical guidance.for fever give calpol.no self treatment should be done.it may take upto two weeks also in recovery so dont worry if gradually symptoms akre getting relieved.child will resume normal activities and eating thereafter.
