Hi dr my baby is 6 months old..he has got cold and runny nose his paediatric has asked me to giv mucolite drops,kosat syrup ,montek lc kid.zedocef 50..i gav these medicines last time aso n his cold wen after two weeks.now again he has got but his not getting relief.if i ask the dr he tells me to giv the same medicine

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Cold is most of the time because of viral illness and if the child is having recurrent running nose and nasal congestion it may be a part of allergic rhinitis also so it needs a proper examination.
steam inhalation will be beneficial in both the cases along with decongestant medicine like alex cold/ hatric 3/ sinarest.
As a part of viral illnesgfs there could be associated symptoms like cough and fever which needs treatment accordingly along with a proper hydration needs to be maintained .
