Hi dr my baby is 6 months old..he has got cold and runny nose his paediatric has asked me to giv mucolite drops,kosat syrup ,montek lc kid.zedocef 50..i gav these medicines last time aso n his cold wen after two weeks.now again he has got but his not getting relief.if i ask the dr he tells me to giv the same medicine

Cold is most of the time because of viral illness and if the child is having recurrent running nose and nasal congestion it may be a part of allergic rhinitis also so it needs a proper examination. steam inhalation will be beneficial in both the cases along with decongestant medicine like alex cold/ hatric 3/ sinarest. As a part of viral illnesgfs there could be associated symptoms like cough and fever which needs treatment accordingly along with a proper hydration needs to be maintained .
