A. Here's a sample diet chart for a 3-year-old Indian child, keeping in mind the nutritional needs and preferences typical for this age group: **Breakfast:** - 1 small bowl of cooked oats or dalia (broken wheat) porridge with milk and chopped fruits (banana, apple, or berries) - 1 small paratha with vegetable filling (e.g., potato, spinach, or paneer) served with yogurt - 1 small idli or dosa with sambar or chutney - 1 glass of milk or fruit smoothie **Mid-Morning Snack:** - 1 small fruit (e.g., banana, apple, orange, or grapes) - A small handful of dry fruits (such as almonds, cashews, or raisins) - Homemade vegetable or fruit muffin or finger sandwiches **Lunch:** - 1 small bowl of cooked rice or roti (chapati) with dal (lentils), sabzi (vegetable curry), and a side of yogurt or raita - A small portion of chicken or fish curry (if non-vegetarian) - A serving of salad with cucumber, tomato, and carrot slices - 1 small piece of fruit for dessert (e.g., mango, papaya, or watermelon) **Afternoon Snack:** - Homemade vegetable or fruit smoothie or milkshake - 1 small bowl of sprouts or boiled chickpeas (chole) with a sprinkle of chaat masala - 1 small serving of homemade dhokla or vegetable cutlets **Dinner:** - 1 small bowl of khichdi (rice and lentil porridge) with mixed vegetables - A small portion of chicken or paneer tikka with mint chutney - A serving of boiled or sautéed seasonal vegetables (e.g., spinach, cauliflower, or beans) - 1 small bowl of yogurt or buttermilk **Before Bedtime:** - 1 small cup of warm milk with a pinch of turmeric or saffron - A small piece of fruit or a homemade cookie **Notes:** - Encourage variety in your child's diet by offering different foods from each food group (grains, proteins, fruits, vegetables, and dairy) throughout the day. - Ensure that meals and snacks are served in appropriate portion sizes suitable for your child's age and appetite. - Be mindful of any food allergies or intolerances your child may have and tailor the diet accordingly. - Offer plenty of fluids throughout the day, including water, milk, and homemade fruit juices, to keep your child hydrated. - Limit processed and sugary foods in your child's diet and focus on providing nutritious, homemade meals and snacks. Remember that every child is different, so adjust the diet according to your child's preferences, dietary restrictions, and nutritional needs. It's also a good idea to consult with a pediatrician or a registered dietitian for personalized dietary recommendations for your child.
