Q.

#asktheexpert my son has dengue fever. what precaution we should take. what we do for increasing platelets.

A. dengue is a viral infection. the treatment consist only of symptomatic relief for the child. you can give only paracetamol for decreasing fever along with body sponge. if it is diagnosed you have to go for blood investigation either into or three days to see for decrease in platelet. no specific treatment is given for dengue and the doctor will wait till the body rsecovers from dengue by itself. very important to maintain hydration by giving regular water fluids and small amount of easily digestible food. please remain in contact with your doctor for more information and any confusion

A. You should give papaya leaf juice to the child a lot of doctors it helps but you have to check with your doctor before you give it to the child regular diet is going to be good fruits which are highly rich in content of iron can also be given to the child for increasing the platelet count and supplements are also going to be beneficial
