#asktheexpert My son has 40 days old. He is suffering from cold. I'm using nasal drops.it gives relief 10-15 min. how to reduce this?

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Cold most of the time is a viral illness where there could be running nose sneezing along with cough and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration . steam inhalation will also be useful in this .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be used once a proper evaluation by the doctor is done and according to the type of cough its pdrescribed.
if any fever is there paracetavmol can be given to reduce the temperature and the dose can be repeated again after 6 hours if required .

Sinarist Paediatric crops can be given to the child five drops twice or thrice in a day along with that I would definitely advise you to consult your doctor as well because I don’t know which nasal drops you are using but they are meant to give relief for at least 4 to 5 hours at one time when you give
