#AskTheExpert My Kid 11 months old now, is suffering from Cold. Its been 5 days now and its getting worse. he is eating less food than daily consumption. i have visited the pediatrician, however they medicine seems of no use. What medicine would be best to use to get rid of the Cold.

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. cough and cold can be infective or allergic in cause.you can give steam to relieve nasal congestion which is of great help and nasoclear drops can also be used in nose multiple times.you can also give sinarest drops . cough syrup or nebulization should be given according to the type of cough and only under the guidance of your pediatrician .self medication is not recommended. if the cough is productive give asthakind-ls. Usually due to the symptoms if the child is not showing interest in having food, give only simple home-made preparations as required, can give certain fruits like apple, papaya etc. ,child will start to eat as symptoms get resolved. Due to seasonal changes or due to repeated exposure to the infective agent if the child is catching cold and cough repeatedly you nee-thd to develop good immunity by giving proper balanced diet and multi -vitamin supplements under medical guidance.

Sonam PrasadMom of 2 children3 years agoA. hi dear Try nasal saline drops. Your baby's doctor may recommend saline nasal drops to moisten nasal passages and loosen thick nasal mucus. Look for these OTC drops in your local pharmacy. Apply saline nasal drops, wait for a short period, and then use a suction bulb to draw mucus out of each nostril.
