A. After a C-section, stitches on the outside of your skin usually begin to heal within 7 to 10 days, but complete internal healing takes about 6 to 8 weeks. Most mothers can start walking gently within 24 hours after surgery to aid recovery and prevent blood clots. However, you may feel soreness, pulling, or tightness in the area for several weeks. You should be able to lay down and sit more comfortably within 1–2 weeks, but avoid heavy lifting, bending, or strenuous activity during this period. Always follow your doctor’s guidance, keep the incision area clean and dry, and report any signs of infection like redness, pus, or fever.
