A. At around six months old, many babies are ready to start exploring solid foods in addition to breast milk or formula. Here are some nutritious and age-appropriate foods you can introduce to your six-month-old baby: 1. **Single-grain infant cereal**: Start with iron-fortified single-grain infant cereal, such as rice cereal, mixed with breast milk, formula, or water to a thin consistency. 2. **Pureed fruits**: Introduce single-ingredient pureed fruits such as apples, pears, bananas, or peaches. Make sure they are smooth and easy to swallow. 3. **Pureed vegetables**: Offer single-ingredient pureed vegetables like sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, or peas. Steam or boil the vegetables until they are soft, then puree until smooth. 4. **Mashed or pureed proteins**: You can introduce mashed or pureed proteins such as well-cooked and finely mashed chicken, turkey, beef, or lentils. Ensure the texture is smooth and easy for your baby to swallow. 5. **Soft fruits and vegetables**: As your baby becomes more comfortable with eating, you can introduce soft, cooked fruits and vegetables cut into small, manageable pieces. Examples include ripe avocado, cooked carrots, or steamed broccoli florets. 6. **Finger foods**: Introduce soft finger foods that are easy for your baby to pick up and eat, such as small pieces of ripe banana, cooked pasta, or well-cooked scrambled eggs. Remember to introduce one new food at a time and wait a few days before introducing another to monitor for any potential allergies or adverse reactions. Also, always supervise your baby during mealtime and ensure they are sitting upright in a high chair to reduce the risk of choking. If you have any concerns or questions about introducing solid foods, consult with your pediatrician for personalized guidance.
