#asktheexpert hi, is it normal to have irregular periods when breast feeding. I got my periods post pregnancy after 6 months and used to get periods mostly every month. Now my baby is 21 months and I havent got periods for last 2 months. I am not pregnant and history of pcod.

A. If you begin menstruating again while you're breastfeeding, you may experience spotting and irregular periods and wonder what's going on. It's completely normal to have inconsistent cycles when you're breastfeeding a baby, and you can chalk it up to the same hormones that caused amenorrhea.
