#AskTheExpert Hellow Dr. meri beti 17 month ki or usko kuch din pehle cold hua tha last week Thursday se usko ek kaan me dard ho raha tha dr ko dikhayi to unhone bola ki cold ki wajah se ho raha to crocin 250 , zifi 50 or alerid medicine diye the ab usko dusre side ear pe pain start ho gaya mujhe kya krna chahiye??

A. Cold most of the time is a viral illness where there could be running nose sneezing along with cough and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration . steam inhalation will also be useful in this . cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be used once a proper evaluation by the doctor is donfhe and afccording to the type of cough its prescribed. if any fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the temperature and the dose can be repeated again after 6 hours if required .
