Q.

#asktheexpert Hello Doc, My daughter is not ready to pass stool in toilet yet. She always stands and passes stool as it is easier for her. While urinating, she never pees in her pants. She will go to the washroom and pee as per norms. Bur the problem is with stool. We have tried a lot to give her a proper potty training but all in vain. We are unable to figure out the solution. Pls help

A. potty training and toilet training should be initiated as soon as the child completes one and half years of age. avoid before that except if you feel that the child is giving cues when he or she wants to pass stool. also good demonstration has to be given again and again to the child to reinforce the habit. make the child sit on potty seat daily so that the child gets accustomed and not fearful of the seat and situationz kindly go through various articles on potty training on firstcry. please bez patient as after starting training it may take 6 months also for the child to learn.
