Motherhood is an exploratory journey. I never realized the emotional turmoil I had put my mother through until I became a mother myself. We fought through childhood, teenage years and even on my wedding day. Then I got my baby girl. Still, we fought. From when to start solid food, to what kind of food to feed the baby, what kind of soaps to use, what kind of baby oil is best for baby; we fought over almost everything.
I prefer online shopping over going to shops. Hate the traffic, the dust and the commute. But we have also heard so much about online frauds. Stories about receiving bricks in place of i-phones, receiving rags on ordering sarees. My mom believed that all online shopping sites were a fraud and banned me from trying them out. But as rebellious as ever, I decided to try ordering a small item as a trial and ordered a packet of diapers from FirstCry, received good quality product promptly and realized there are even extra offers available on the site. But this was my little secret as it was very difficult to convince my oldfashioned mom to try out an online shopping site. Next, I tried ordering a dress, chose a simple elegant baby dress. My mom saw the new dress and was impressed, it looked good and the quality was excellent. She wouldn’t believe when I confessed that I had bought it on Firstcry. Then she slowly became comfortable with the idea. The products were good enough to make her a loyal customer. Then, we were fighting over which dress was cuter, which colour looked better and on and on and on.
Now she is an advocate of Firstcry. When my little sister had her baby boy, I heard mom advising my sister, “Shopping is so much more fun when there are no hassles of traffic, crowd and pollution. Try Firstcry.”
