COVID-19 and Pregnancy: Tips to Help You Stay Happy and Healthy!
This phase of the COVID-19 pandemic is tough and trying for each and every one of us. More so, for all the beautiful ladies that are waiting for the joyous arrival of their baby.
While dealing with pregnancy during such tiring times can be stressful, here are a few tips that may help you.
1. Safety First
It’s a well-known fact that pregnant women are more prone to getting infected, simply because of all the hormonal changes that their bodies are going through. But you have nothing to worry about if you take the correct precautions.
- While going for your routine check-up and scan ensure you do not take off your mask at any point of time.
- Specifically, ask your doctor if he/she has sanitised their hands before touching you.
- Another point to note is to sanitise the surface where you’ll be sitting or laying down for testing. An ideal method would be to carry a shawl with you so you can lay on that, and be sure of your safety.
- The first thing you do when you go back home after visiting the doctor is washing your clothes and the shawl.
2. Go for Walks
Your body needs to have a good amount of movement during this phase. Sitting at home like a couch potato won’t do any good! So, go for walks around your building or in the park. It will rejuvenate your body and mind. If you can’t go outside to walk due to certain restrictions, make sure to walk around your house for at least 30 minutes.
3. Listen to Music/Paint and Draw
Your baby knows everything you do or go through. If you want your baby to be happy inside your tummy, make sure you are happy too. Listening to music or indulging in arts can be a great way to soothe your mind and heart.
4. Check Your Eating Habits
All the nutrition your baby gets is through you. So, make sure you are eating healthy and fresh food. Eating green leafy vegetables and seasonal fruits, and drinking lots of water is crucial. You should avoid refined and processed food like packaged chips and soft drinks. But, you are free to satisfy all your food cravings with homemade food.
5. Meditate
In times like these, when your body is going through so many changes both internally and externally, it might be difficult to keep calm. Start meditating regularly, even if you only start with 10 minutes a day. Meditation helps in calming your thoughts, which is even more important now, due to the current situation. So, put on that calming music and start meditating.
Above all, remember everything is going to be okay. You and your baby will come out of this happy and healthy.
Keep believing in yourself and the precious bundle of joy growing inside of you. You both are very, very strong!
Thank you.
Stay healthy and happy!
