An Amazing Journey of a Bump Leading to Happy Motherhood!
Becoming a parent for the first time is really life changing and joyous! I came to know the news accidentally, when I had gone for a checkup to know why I am suffering from loose motions. The doctor insisted on doing all the preliminary tests that are required for pre-conception, even though it had nothing to do with loose motions. Then, suddenly, one fine day, the phone rang, and the doctor asked me to meet. Various thoughts went through my mind – was there anything serious in the reports… But then, congratulations! She is 6 weeks pregnant! My heart started pumping fast, my brain went numb, and within a second, I realised, oh God, there is a little one inside me!
My pregnancy was really a happy period, though there was and is a pandemic going on. All required care and measures were taken for a normal healthy pregnancy. My husband helped me a lot to make my journey amazing and beautiful in this hard situation of the coronavirus pandemic.
- With a good, healthy diet, I used to practise garbhsanskar and meditation regularly for a happy mind.
- I followed prenatal/antenatal series.
- In my 7th month, I started prenatal yoga.
To elaborate on garbhsankar and meditation: today, there are lot of YouTube channels and online antenatal classes which you can join. This is required for a peaceful mind, so that whatever thoughts you have, they can be brought into action. For example, I would always talk to my baby about how she will travel through the birth canal, and how I want her to experience that, leading to a natural, normal birth.
There is nothing new that everyone will think, but for me, it’s a supernatural power that we women have. In today’s life where I hear C-sections are normal, premature and preterm births happen every day, I believe that the uniqueness in my story is that I had a smooth pregnancy that ended in a natural vaginal birth without induction of labour.
