Easy Day/Night Skincare Routine for Healthy Skin

Pregnancy is a beautiful experience and journey. Post-pregnancy is more beautiful, as your little one will be in your hands. Days get busier, and we end up not concentrating on ourselves. In this busy time, don’t forget to look after yourself, be it your diet, overall health, and skincare. Instead of splurging on skincare products, look for wonder products in your very own kitchen!

I am sharing an easy day and night skincare routine, which is suitable for all skin types and without much hassle. Remember, being regular with a homemade skincare routine has guaranteed results.


  • Take about 1 tbsp of raw milk. Dip a cotton ball, and just wipe your skin gently with it. This helps to remove all the dirt and impurities, and brightens the skin.
  • Take a cotton cloth, and dip it in slightly hot water. Pat your face and neck for about 5 minutes.
  • Take your favourite filter coffee powder, and add about 2 tbsp. Add 1/4 tsp of sugar to it (optional) and 1/4 tsp of honey. Mix well. Gently scrub this mixture on your face (except the eye area) for about 5 to 10 minutes. Keep on for a while, and wash off.
Take 1 tbsp of gram flour. For oily skin, add rose water, and for dry skin, add milk or yogurt. Add a few drops of lemon juice. Mix well, and apply. Wash off after 10 minutes. You can remove it by washing with lukewarm water, or using a mild face wash. See that your skin is clean without traces. You can place cucumber pieces on your eyes, and relax.
Follow this with a light moisturiser or serum that is suitable for your skin type, and you are done! In the day time, after applying your moisturiser, follow up with a sunscreen.
Being a mother is like a round-the-clock duty, and as night approaches, we just want to finish up and doze off.
  • Wash your face first with your face wash. If you have oily skin, you can use plain gram flour to wash your face. Apply about two drops of Vitamin E oil with your little finger under and around the eyes until absorbed. Apply a lightweight moisturiser, and go to bed.
NOTE: Not only mothers, but all women can take this as a lazy girl’s guide to skincare.
Doing this regularly, twice or thrice a week, has best results.
All the above mentioned ingredients are mild, and suit all skin types. Those with sensitive skin who are prone to redness, rashes, or breakouts can do a patch test. Apply a bit of the paste or ingredient behind the ears, or on the inner part of your elbows. Wait for some time to see any changes. If there aren’t any, then continue.
All the above-mentioned ingredients are easily available in the kitchen, and make good skin exfoliators, and have skin-brightening and anti-ageing properties.
