A. your child is having colic which is causing such behaviour. colic is quite common in children before 6 months of age. the usually start after 3 weeks of age. you can give drops gastica or colicaid to the child 0.5 ml if the child is crying for more than 15 to 20 minutes due to colic pain. limb cycling movements as well as tummy time will help. to prevent colic pain kindlye do burping for 15 to 20 minutes after every feed and do not keep the child back on the bed after 1 burping because all the gas is not removed after one burping.

A. If your baby is crying continuously and suddenly stops, with no eye movements and tightly closed lips, it could indicate a few possibilities: 1. **Breath-Holding Spell**: Sometimes when babies cry intensely, they may involuntarily hold their breath. This can cause them to appear briefly unresponsive, with tightly closed lips and no eye movements. Breath-holding spells are typically brief (a few seconds to a minute) and often resolve on their own. 2. **Syncopal Episode**: In rare cases, intense crying can lead to a temporary decrease in blood flow to the brain, resulting in a brief loss of consciousness. This is more common in older infants and toddlers. 3. **Seizure**: Although less likely, some seizures can present with sudden changes in behavior and responsiveness. ### What to Do 1. **Stay Calm**: It can be alarming to see your baby in this state, but try to stay calm. Most of the time, these episodes resolve quickly without any intervention. 2. **Check Breathing**: Ensure your baby resumes normal breathing. If they do not start breathing again quickly, gently stimulate them by touching or lightly tapping them. 3. **Comfort and Reassure**: Once your baby resumes normal behavior, comfort and reassure them. Hold them calmly and speak soothingly. 4. **Monitor**: Keep an eye on your baby for any further episodes or unusual behavior. If the episode recurs or if you notice any other concerning symptoms, contact your pediatrician for evaluation. ### When to Seek Medical Help - If the episode is prolonged (more than a minute), or if your baby does not resume normal behavior and responsiveness after the episode. - If there are frequent episodes of breath-holding or if your baby shows other concerning symptoms such as abnormal movements or changes in consciousness. ### Follow-Up with Pediatrician It’s important to discuss any concerning episodes with your pediatrician. They can assess your baby’s health and development, provide guidance on managing episodes, and determine if any further evaluation or testing is needed. While occasional breath-holding spells are usually benign, it’s crucial to rule out any underlying issues and ensure your baby’s well-being. Observing and documenting the frequency and characteristics of these episodes can also help your pediatrician make an accurate assessment.
