Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy1 Year agoA. it is advisable to continue the regular homemade food diet for the child during illness and it should not be heavy as well as avoid any type of packet food biscuit maida which may increase more gas formation and indigestion and give plenty of fluids water lime water and juice extracted from fruits as well as curd and butter milk for proper digestion of the food. if the child is consuming 60 to 70% of the regular diet then also it is fine
it is important to continue the regular diet of the child and the diet during cough and cold will not change much. but it is always advisable to give easily digestible food and do not force the child for food and if the child is taking around 60% to 70% of the diet then also it's fine.
during cough and cold it is important to give plenty of fluids and water to the child which will helpd in recovery and also citrus fruits are advisable.
diet to avoid
biscuits, maida, ice creams, cold food items, chocolate, chips and any packetd food, sweet sugary item, cakes , cookies.
