A. It is not uncommon for breastfeeding mothers to experience irregular periods, especially in the first few months after delivery. This is because breastfeeding can suppress the hormones needed for ovulation and menstruation. As a result, some women may experience delayed periods while they are breastfeeding. However, it's important to note that just because you are breastfeeding, it does not necessarily mean you cannot get pregnant. It is still possible to ovulate and conceive even if you have not yet had a period. Therefore, you may want to consider using a form of contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancy. If you are concerned about the absence of your period, especially if you have previously had regular menstrual cycles, it is best to consult with your healthcare provider. Additionally, there are alternative reasons for a change in the menstrual cycle such as stress or changes to sleeping or eating patterns, so it is important to talk to a healthcare professional to help diagnose any issues.
